"I started mapping in 1993." Speaking of his hobby, Feng Huaizhi said that he was still doing political work in the commercial system at that time, and he had nothing to do with surveying and mapping. But in his spare time, he made a simple map of Qinhuangdao before the liberation from a childhood memory of Qinhuangdao. Although this is not a real map, his enthusiasm for mapping has never been accepted. After retiring in 2001, he devoted himself to drawing up maps of urban life.
"life map" is what I call it, because it is related to people's lives. On the map drawn by Feng Huaizhi, every street, every community, school, hospital, hotel, hotel, large supermarket, organization, enterprise and institution, etc. are clearly marked. In the past 20 years, Feng Huaizhi has drawn up 12 maps, one is more complicated than one, and the other is more detailed than one.

Every morning, Feng Huaizhi said, he pushed the bicycle to "measure" the streets and lanes of the city, and record all the neighborhoods, schools, and units on each street, and count the numbers of the poles or wheels. "I made a mark on the wheel, how long is it to me?" It's too far away to mark the distance from the pole. The farthest day can walk up to forty or fifty miles. " It is with such a ruler that Feng Huaizhi spent more than a year developing the harbour area and development zone. After the measurement is done, he collate all the measured data and coordinate information, and then draw a pen.

My purpose is to enjoy the process, to record the city from childhood to old life in this form, leaving the mark of its development and change.
today, Feng Huaizhi, who does not have to go out every day to "measure", is not idle. He is concerned about which district is being built, which area is being demolished and which road is extending. Whenever he sees and hears the news of a city building or the name of a new building in a newspaper, television or advertisement, he will record it sensitively, then go to the field to find, check the location, and keep the information to fill his map.
