according to Australia's new fast In September 25th, a 17 year old Sydney girl was awarded the gold medal in the International Earth Science Olympiad in Brazil from nearly 100 elite senior high school students from 22 countries. This is the first time in Australia to take part in the competition. it is reported that Zoe Thompson from Redlands is the only female student in the top ten, who won the gold medal with the total score of fifth.
"I didn't slow down... I didn't expect to call my name. " Thompson said.
