reporter learned from the national super computing Ji'nan center, our next generation of Shen Wei E grade prototype has been started in Ji'nan, Shandong. The prototype is scheduled for completion in June 2018.
data map reporter learned that the Shen Wei prototype belongs to the national key R & D Program "E class computer key technology verification system", which is the national parallel computer engineering technology research center and the country The supercomputing Ji'nan center has been jointly developed and pushed into the National Supercomputing Center of Ji'nan. This project will further support the research and development of China in the fields of marine scientific research, climate, meteorology, aeronautics and Astronautics, biological information and so on. In the specific application field, the National Supercomputing Ji'nan center and the National Oceanic Bureau first Oceanographic Research Institute have been approved by the E application software project, "the development of the marine environment high performance numerical simulation application software" in 2016. The strength of
supercomputer will provide large-scale and scalable parallel computing services, large data services and intelligent computing services for marine scientific research teams and business departments, and accelerate the implementation of large scientific plans, such as transparent oceans, deep sea poles, blue life, and other national marine strategies. The National Supercomputing Ji'nan center says it will have hundreds of billions of times of mathematical computing power per second, and will be 8 times higher than the world's fastest supercomputer at present. At present, the National Laboratory of Qingdao marine science and technology and the National Supercomputing Center of Ji'nan are jointly applying for the E computer of Shen Wei. Once approved, this type of supercomputer is expected to settle in Shandong in 2020.
