The Guan Yu Temple mural
recently, with the further report of the construction of the restoration project of the building murals in Miyako Island, Ji'nan, the art form of the murals has once again entered the people's field of vision, causing the love of archaeology. And the attention of the citizens of the art. In addition to Huayang Miyako Island architectural complex in Ji'nan, there are still many remains of this art form. I recently conducted a field trip around Ji'nan.
Huang Peng author, through an investigation, found that there are still many murals left over from ancient to modern in Ji'nan's folk religious monasteries or dwellings. These mural paintings are beautifully drawn, colorful and rich in subject matter, from the flowers and birds to the classical novels; from the Ming and Qing Dynasties to the Republic of China, there are also after the founding of the people's Republic of China or during the "Cultural Revolution". Here, please follow the footsteps of the essays to learn about those "grassroots art treasures" that are left behind by the people.
the murals of "Dayu governing water" in the temple of Yu Wang, ,
there is a large village in the southern part of the town of Wen Zu in Zhangqiu. The village is called the Sande fan. The temple in the south of the village is preserved in the ancient temple of the Qing Dynasty, the temple of Yu Wang. It can be seen from the name of the temple that the ancient temple was built to worship the hero Yu Yu.
the temple of the three virtues of Yu Wang, the north end of the courtyard, is the main hall. After more than a hundred years of wind and rain, the Dongshan wall of the main hall has nearly collapsed, and the interior of the palace is inclined, but a group of Qing Dynasty frescoes in the nine palace form can be clearly seen from the intact west mountain wall. As the name suggests, murals are drawn in nine boxes, with a total of nine. Through nine murals to reflect the idea of painting workers or repair the good people want to express. This fresco form is also the most common pattern of mural painting in Ji'nan. The nine frescoes on the wall of the west mountain of Yu Wang Temple are all stories about the course of Dayu's water treatment, which includes the famous allusions of "three over the house instead of". The frescoes on the walls of the Western Hills are colourful and beautifully painted, and the names of the murals are marked in the top left corner of each lattice.
the mural of Yu Wang Temple, except for the west mountain wall, still retained some remnants of the murals on both sides of the deities and the south wall. Most of these murals are painted with ink. The contents of the paintings are not only the story of the carp, but also the poems and texts of the west wind, though a little incomplete, they can still see the artistic attainments of the folk artists.
"journey to the west" in Ji'nan, the murals of the murals in Ji'nan extant
generally speaking, the paintings of the murals in the Qing Dynasty have gradually appeared in the depiction of the realistic major themes and the performance of the folk novels and the famous literary works. During this period, many classic works began to be popular among the people, so the frescoes were gradually advancing with the times, drawing these contents on the wall.
in the course of the investigation in Ji'nan, there are two frescoes in the classical novels. One is the Dasang temple in Zhangqiu, the other is the Guan Yu Temple in the Middle District of the city. The contents of the murals are all the stories in the journey to the West.
the frescos of the journey to the West in the Zhangqiu sage temple is kept above the south wall gate of the main hall. It is divided into several districts from the east end to the long and narrow walls of the west, and the murals in each district are a fragment of the story. The whole fresco is like a comic book, telling the story of the monkey king's journey to the red child. The mural of the Dasheng temple was made of ink and white drawing, using white walls and ink to outline the lines. The whole fresco was clean and concise and the content was clear.
the murals in the temple of emperor Guandi in Han Zhuang's temple, its expression forms and the great saint temple have the same wonderful work, the drawing technique is very close, seems to be the same painter's hand. However, the contents of the murals in the temple of the emperor of Han Zhuang were more general, the first from the Tang monk to the Tang King, after which there was a war between the Lord and the other monsters, and it was not a specific story. Because of the late age of this kind of murals, the content of these murals can also provide a related evidence for the attachment of the ancient architecture.
murals in the temple of Guandi,
is the name of the Three Kingdoms. After his death, his image was deified by the later generations, and after many dynasties, Guan Yu also gradually became the object of the official and folk worship, and was honored as "Guan Gong". In ancient times, the temple of the emperor was built in most places, and the frescoes attached to the temple mostly appeared in the form of Guan Gong story or romance of the Three Kingdoms.
there is such a Guan Yu Temple in the well character village of Zhang Xia Town in this Changqing district. Although the temple is not large, only a single Hall is opened, but the nine color frescoes in the palace show the famous stories of Guan Yu's life. Although some of the murals in the palace have begun to fall off, they still can understand what the painter wants to express from the stories they want to show. Among them, Guan Yu's important life fragments, such as "warm wine chopped Hua Xiong", "seal the gold and print Cao Cao," are all reflected in this fresco. The mural color of the temple is very bright, the blue dress of Guan Yu's blue dress, the red overalls are contrasting, the color is well preserved, the original color of the murals is basically preserved, and the eyes are bright in front of the people.
's mural painting "Dragon God tour map"
if the "Nine Palace" mural form is to reflect a more clear and independent small story, then a large wall of the mural to bring people is a grand grand scene.
the most spectacular one of the most spectacular paintings seen in the Ji'nan area is from the Dragon shrine in Zhangqiu's Tin Tian Village. The temple worships the Dragon God, also known as the "Dragon King Temple". In the temple there are all the mural paintings on the East and West gables of the hall without beams. The contents are all "Dragon God's travel map". From the wall of the west mountain wall paintings can be seen: the leftmost wall of the murals is a color car driving the dragon, the car is riding the Dragon King, before the Qinglong car is the two "quiet" and "avoid" the soap board of the yamen, and before it is the military service of the fan cap, carrying the sword of the boy, and carrying the flag to look back soldiers, travel teams. On the top of his head there are all the gods accompanied by auspicious clouds, and there is a common man in the upper right corner of the murals who opens the windows.
the entire frescoes constitute a complete spectacular scene of Dragon God's journey. The mural begins at half a meter from the ground and squares up to the bottom of the arch. Although the lower part of the murals is partly shedding because of humid, some people are blurred, but there are still more than twenty figures or ghosts in the existing murals. Each image has been meticulously depicted, and the expression of form and object are reflected in their respective identities, which is the essence of the ancient color murals.
 revolutionary fresco
if the themes chosen by the ancient murals are mostly the auspicious patterns or the stories that the common people are pleased to see, the modern fresco embodies more obvious features of the times. Most of the murals of
appeared in two periods. One was the early days of the founding of the people's Republic of China, the first was during the cultural revolution. In these two periods, the ancient buildings in many villages were endowed with new uses, many of which were transformed into classroom rooms or village offices of schools. In this period, most of the murals appeared by the original ancient architectural murals, the ancient mural on top of the cover, so as to achieve the role of the propaganda of current affairs policy.
in the village of daiunnun in Liubu Town, I saw some of these murals in the three Qing palace in the west of the village, one of which was painted with high mountains. If only from these mountains, it was impossible to understand the meaning of the painter, but the inscription on the mountain side of the mountains "against the United States and the United States and defeat the wolves of the United States of the United States" It is clear that the mountains painted in the picture should be the great rivers and mountains of the DPRK. And this murals should also be drawn in the early days of the founding of the United States to resist US aggression and aid Korea.
the mural beside the mural of "anti American aggression and aid Korea" is another large murals. The painting is in the middle of a huge national emblem. Under the national emblem, it is a piece of factory building and a towering chimney. The meaning of the murals represents the revitalization of the new China in the early days of the founding of the people's Republic. From the edges and corners of the revolutionary murals, we can see some of the colors of the original murals, so these murals were painted on the frescoes of the original three Qing palace.
the mural of the period of the Cultural Revolution was preserved in the folk house of a village in the dwellings, and a layer of white powder was smeared on the wall of the rettled soil. The image of the characters was painted on it. The brilliant image of the workers, peasants and soldiers and the big slogans next to them made it easy to guess that the times of these murals should be "red glory". The period of the "Cultural Revolution" was illuminated.
these modern fresco colors are mostly white wall black ink, which have typical characteristics of the times, and the location of the paintings is mostly by the use of the original mural. Although the painting of this period is relatively rough, it is not the same as the ancient color murals, but because of their typical characteristics of the times, it should also arouse our attention and attention.
[postscript]:
the author found and concerned these murals in the process of investigation, it is not easy to preserve them today. Most of them have a certain value of cultural relics and artistic value. However, from the present environment of preservation, most of the murals are in danger, and they are born and destroyed in the natural environment and are unmanaged. Protection. Weathering and human destruction make the murals decadent and decadent every day. If these folk art works are not protected in time, it is hard to say whether we can see it in the near future, and these precious ancient or modern, contemporary art will be buried in the dust of history.
