Chinese Olympic rickshaw man holds up traffic on A14
A RICKSHAW rider who cycles between Olympic host cities was stopped by police for holding up traffic — on a DUAL CARRIAGEWAY。
Chen Guan Ming, 58, spent two years cycling from his Chinese capital Beijing to London for last summer’s Games。
But he was pulled over just 65 miles into his 5,700-mile trek from London to Rio in Brazil, where the 2016 Olympics will be held。
Cops who stopped him on the 70mph A14 near Huntingdon, Cambs, suggested he use smaller routes and offered him a map — which he refused。
Stunned driver Stephen Cousins tweeted: “There is an Asian gentleman riding his rickshaw on the A14. Quite surreal。”
A police spokesman said: “He was stopped and given words of advice not to travel on the A14 but he was committing no offences and went on his way。”
Chen, from Xuzhou City, China, travelled through 16 countries to get to the Olympic Park in East London last July。
The Olympics fanatic is funding his latest three-year trip by doing odd jobs and offering rides in the rickshaw, which he also sleeps in at night。
He is heading to Liverpool for a ship across the Atlantic before he pedals through North and Central America and the Amazon jungle to reach Rio。
